A set of four Fairy Tale plates was issued in the early 1970s in an iridized pastel blue color. The maker was Indiana Glass Co. of Dunkirk Indiana and they were made as a Tiara Exclusive. In non-iridized glass, the plates are found in amber, blue and crystal.
The plates are 6 1/4 inches in diameter with the pattern on the reverse side. The reverse pattern is in the glass not raised off the glass. The plates may have a border of Dutch children holding hands and dancing as shown in the two plates above. Some plates have bears in the border. It seems that the border is inter-changable. Only the front is iridized. The front has no pattern except beading around the outer edge. |

The plate, top left, says "Hey! Diddle. Diddle." and shows a cat playing a fiddle and a cow jumping over the moon. The plate, top right, says "This little pig went to market" and shows a pig riding in a cart. The plate, lower left, says "Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep and can't tell where to find them" and shows a tearful young girl holding a shepard's hook.
The one plate not shown is the Three Bears which shows the three bears in the nursery rhyme Goldilocks. |
